Description: This session assists participants in developing posters for presentation at meetings, with a focus on creating a poster that is appealing to viewers while effectively communicating the authors’ intent.

PLANNING AND PRESENTING WORKSHOPS THAT WORK
Description: This session gives participants the tools/framework necessary to construct and lead effective educational workshops. The content addresses how to conduct a needs assessment of the target audience and use the results to plan an effective workshop. Characteristics of effective workshops and a basic workshop framework are presented. Techniques for effective communication, stimulating audience participation and interaction, and evaluation are reviewed.
Format: This interactive session can be modified to fit the participants’ needs, and can be presented in various formats between 1 and 3 hours.

MAKING SIMPLE DRAWINGS IN POWERPOINT – ADDING PIZZAZZ TO POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS
Description: This is an interactive workshop that is designed to introduce the novice to drawing figures in Powerpoint (PPT). Such figures are useful for educational and research presentations. As well, such drawings may also be suitable for publication.
Format: This workshop is a hands-on-activity where everybody will learn to draw basic figures and create a variety of images such as organs, cells and chemical formulas. This exercise should be held in a computer lab and therefore scheduling the activity several weeks in advance is required.
