- Remove 4 elements from tracking by OEQUI
1.2 Conflict of Interest Policies; 3.4 Anti-Discrimination Policy; 5.8 Library Resources/Staff; 5.9 Information Technology Resources/Staff Removal of these elements is because either a policy has been made or it received institutional oversight.
Motion to approve removing monitoring these 4 elements from tracking. Motion was seconded and approved. - Proposal to move Immunology learning objectives and content to Foundations of Medicine
In response to students feedback is to compress a bit of Foundations.- Proposal is making a change to Foundations of Medicine by moving Immunology from 2nd semester to Foundations Course where Foundations taught Foundations of Medical Micro.
- Motion to approve the new LO’s for Foundations that are expanding on what is already in the course, adding more explicit clinical take on them, and adding some around (ie thermal injury) which has been a gap in the curriculum.
- Motion was seconded and approved.
- Motion to approve proposed changes to the Foundations course – adding objectives around the existing content (including aging), adding the diabetes a bit more explicitly, metabolic syndrome a little more explicitly. Combining a lot of the BioChem into one learning objective, metabolic disease, occupational environmental exposures. Moving existing Immuno into Foundations.
- Motion was seconded and approved.
- Proposal to change Foundations in Microbiology and Immunology from a 5 week/ 4 credit course to a 4-week course Foundations in Microbiology (due to moving immunology to Foundations) with expanded content around environmental medicine
- Explained this change but is not ready to vote, would like ideas and thoughts from the committee.
- Idea: If agreed, and there is space in FMI, could transition the microbiology course to a microbiology environmental health (title tbd). This would alleviate the gaps – environmental health, emerging pathogens, effects of climate change.
- Idea: Move the Research & Discovery 1 credit course to the other week.
- Reaching out to different folks with infectious disease experience.
- Discussion of how to use additional time if FMI change approved
- Clerkship retreat update
Discussion about programmatic assessment across Phase 2.
